Importance of data-driven content

Writing as an art mostly comes from our personal experiences and content, and these days it is getting more personalized. Even though we develop our perception from whatever we read, learn and gather; these are mere opinions and do not count as data. Our view counts when backed by scientific studies, case studies, surveys, and research like any scientific experiment. Despite content getting more personalized, it becomes essential for creators to substantiate their view; with the help of data to sound more credible. Let us find out why data should become the basis for content creation and distribution.

The Foundation

Content creators should not create content out of speculation, misinformation, or lack of information. As the most important goal of content is credibility, research forms the foundation of content development; adding validity to the story. From identifying trends to establishing a stand, research helps find accurate data that defines the path and goal. Questions can only be answered through research.

Building narrative based on data

Data is the tool to inform and persuade. Research plays an essential role in the ‘inform and persuade‘, as it is involved in each content creation step, starting from identifying a relevant topic, to a deep-dive and finally forming a perception based on the study. As content creators mainly look at engaging readers, the goal is not to force narrative, but speak the language of data. Data-driven content also provides food for thought to readers!

Importance of data-driven storytelling

Data-driven storytelling is the systemic presentation of data for ease of understanding. Even though there are several tools at hand to deduce facts from data, it is beyond the scope of the human mind, to work through big data. Data-driven storytelling finds its importance when presenting numbers for data that people might have several questions about and explain.
